As I walked through Grant Park, I decided to look for images that highlight the beauty of Grant Park. These images are my glimpse into the mind of a member of the IOC looking for reasons why to choose Chicago.
As I strolled through Grant Park, I found beautiful fountains. Some were centered with Grecian statues while others were more representative of America such as a fountain I found with an eagle in the middle.
Deeper into the park, I came across avenues of trees. Some appeared as tunnels which almost make you forget your in the middle of downtown Chicago.
One of my favorite images is the median right in front of Roosevelt University. It features this angelic woman with her arms back and a large American flag above it.

I took my pictures at the tennis courts in Lincoln Park. In the first picture, the banner behind the plane says: “No Olympic Bid nogameschicago.com.” If flew overhead right as I was leaving and I thought it was like fate or something, y’know?
Another funny thing: I actually used to live right across the street from this park. In the second picture you can actually see the building I used to live in. It’s the first one on the left.
Enjoy!

I took my pictures at Grant Park and the Lakefront, where the Rowing would take place. This is what the Website says about this particular venue…”Rowing and Canoe-Kayak/Flatwater events will take place in one of Chicago’s most treasured harbors, facing Buckingham Fountain, Grant Park and the skyscrapers that create the quintessential view of the city.”

I went to Washington Park to shoot my photo essay. I aimed to take pictures of nature and all of the different birds that are there every day, even when it’s snowy and full of puddles. To me, constructing buildings here would disrupt that atmosphere.

I decided to choose Soldier Field, not because I love football, but because I live an hour and a half away and that was literally the closest venue by foot.It was hard to take pictures due to the stadium being very private and out of seasoned but I tried to get the main features of the outside.

I visited McCormick Place and decided to include Soldier Field. I was able to walk up a hill and take pictures of Soldier Field and I was pleased with the way they turned out.
As I continued to walk I noticed a man picking up garbage. I thought if the city gets selected how many more people will be needed to keep the city clean. Then I came across trees and they appeared so majestic almost as if I wasn’t standing in Chicago but in a rural area.
I put the Indian last because it is my favorite. As if the Indians are welcoming you to the lake front.

I chose Hyde Park because it is a part of the city that I am not to familiar with. I thought it would be interesting to go and check it out. I looked up some information on the neighborhoods in Chicago that would be affected by the 2016 Olympics and Hyde Park was one of them. In fact there was an exact address, which I went to and found myself with a quiet and peaceful night in Hyde Park. I did not take pictures of the exact address area but of the things around it. I found that to be more interesting than taking lots of pictures of different apartment buildings!

I did my photo essay on the proposed sight for the Olympic Village near Chicago’s south side near the lakefront by Michael Reese Hospital and McCormick Place.
This would include 1.1 billion dollar construction for the Olympic Village after the demolition of the now closed Michael Reese Hospital. The housing will house 17,000 athletes and officials and will be converted into mixed-income housing after the Olympics.

I decided to capture sites in our very own community that back the 2016 Olympic bid. Maybe to heighten our awareness of how much of a reality this could be for Chicago. We live in a beautiful diverse city. I also took pictures of Washington Park because i love hanging there in the summer with my friends.I think it is an excellent proposed location for the 2016 Olympics. If the Olympics should indeed come to Chicago; this would be my second time living in a state that held the Olympic touch.’CALL ME LUCKY.’I had the honor of watching the 1997- Special Olympics in Trenton NJ. I don’t know about every one else, but I’m excited about the Olympics Coming to Chicago; though I’m not spending any of my money on it, because i hardly have any.

I read that Millennium Park would be a huge attraction for the 2016 Olympics. Although not confirmed; Committee officials believe it would be the perfect place to hold various award ceremony’s for the 2016 Olympics. I choose this site because I feel Millennium Park represents Chicago, not only because its smack dab in the middle of this beautiful city, but, because of all the memories this park is able to capture( i.e. The bean)I guess just like the rest of the anxious Chicagoans’ I have to wait and see if Chicago is MY OLYMPIC KIND OF TOWN!
